We address questions about course and curriculum development, assessment, pedagogy in introductory biology courses and the professional development of instructors who teach those courses.

  • Developing and testing a model for graduate student, postdoctoral fellows and faculty in professional development in teaching.

    • Research question: What are key variables that influence the degree to which instructors use learner-centered teaching practices?
  • Investigating the impacts of students' use of science practices (e.g., models, working with data, arguments, and collaboration) to learn core disciplinary concepts across scales in biology.
